Carbaryl (1-naphthyl methylcarbamate, CAS number 63-25-2) is a chemical in the carbamate family used chiefly as an insecticide. It is a colorless white crystalline solid, m. p. 142°C.
Suspected animal carcinogen. When given to several species of pregnant animals has also caused defects in their offspring. May cause kidney damage. Causes acute nervous system effects.
