Definitions for "Buybacks"
Companies' repurchases of a proportion of their outstanding share capital are known as share buybacks. Companies might choose to buy back their shares in order to redistribute large cash holdings to shareholders. Buying back their own shares in the market reduces the amount of shares outstanding and can enhance earnings per share.
