Definitions for "Brane"
any of the extended objects that arise in string theory. A one-brane is a string, a two-brane is a membrane, a three-brane has three extended dimensions, etc. More generally, a -brane has spatial dimensions.
An object or subspace in string theory that can have various spatial dimensions. A 1-brane is a string; a 2-brane is a surface or membrane; a p-brane has lengths in p dimensions.
Objects which arise in string theory. They can have any number of dimensions, and are usually imagined as existing in a space with more dimensions than the brane itself has.
