Definitions for "BLOW MOLDING"
The usual method for making plastic bottles and other hollow items.
A method of fabrication in which a warm plastic parison (hollow tube) is placed between the two halves of a mold (cavity) and forced to assume the shape of that mold cavity by the use of air pressure.
A process in which a warm plastic parison or preform (hollow tube) is placed between the two halves of a mold (cavity) and is blown into the desired shape. This improves the gas barrier, stiffness, clarity and impact strength of the container compared to extrusion molding processes; and as a result, containers can be reduced in weight.
