Definitions for "Blindstamp"
An embossed stamp without color, outside the image, used to identify the publisher, printer, photographer, printmaking studio, collector, or, less often, the artist. The stamp may be a symbol, initials, or the full name and address. Drystamp and chop are synonyms.
An inkless impression embossed directly on a photograph or the mount to which it is attached, used for identification purposes. Popular during the nineteenth century and in some commercial photography today, blindstamps usually spell the name and address of the photographer or, in some instances, the collector.
A decorative pattern or lettering that has been impressed onto the boards or leather.
