Data collected on a resource or subject that reflects its current status and serves as a basis for future comparison.
Initial information on a program or program components collected prior to receipt of services or participation activities. Baseline data are often gathered through intake interviews and observations and are used later for comparing measures that determine changes in a program.
Baseline data such as attendance figures are collected before a change in conditions that affect the data ( e.g. a new marketing strategy) is implemented so that the effectiveness of the new strategy can be measured by comparing the data collected after the change is applied with the baseline data.
