The action of presenting an access card (sometimes called a badge, a tag or a token) at a reader. A card may be inserted or swiped, or in the case of contact-less technologies i.e. proximity, passed within range of a read head.

Each delegate should wear a name badge which they collect as part of their Delegate Pack when they arrive at the venue. These are often produced electronically.
