Definitions for "Backmatter"
The part of the book that follows the text pages. This generally includes reference material such as notes, bibliography, references, appendixes, glossary, and index.
Elements of a book that follow the text proper. Backmatter may include the appendix, notes, glossary, bibliography and other references, lists of resources, index, author biography, offerings of the author’s and/or publisher’s additional books and other related merchandise, and colophon.
Any text that appears after the main text of the book. This can include the afterword, appendix, glossary, or index.
