Definitions for "Asbestos Cement"
Cement containing 10-15% asbestos. It cannot support heavy weights and hazardous fibres can be released if it is cut or drilled.
A hard product that contains up to 15% asbestos fibres which can be any of the three main types. This is a relatively safe material provided it remains intact as the cement binds the asbestos fibres; breakage will lead to fibre release. When used for roofing the risks to operatives are far greater from falls than asbestos exposure. This material does not have to be removed by licensed contractors but must be transported and disposed of as special waste from non-domestic premises.
Composed basically from fibre and cement and is used for making a wide variety of goods including flat and corrugated sheets, roof tiles and rain water gutters.
