The Ardennes (IPA pronunciation: ) (Dutch: Ardennen) is a region of extensive forests and rolling hill country, primarily in Belgium and Luxembourg, but stretching into France (lending its name to the Ardennes département and the Champagne-Ardenne région).
The Ardennes is one of the oldest breeds of draft horse originating from the Ardennes area in France/North Western Europe. They are heavy-boned but agile at times, with thick legs that help when plowing fields, pulling stumps, and riding. Ardennes have a lot of Belgian blood.
