Matt Hales (born January 17, 1972), better known as Aqualung, is an English singer and songwriter best known in the UK for his song "Strange and Beautiful", which was featured on a television advertisement for the new Volkswagen Beetle during the summer of 2002 and went on to become a Top 10 hit in the UK singles chart later that year. In the United States, Aqualung is also known for the song "Brighter Than Sunshine", which had considerable airplay and was used in the film A Lot Like Love and various television spots.
"Aqualung" is a song by English progressive rock band Jethro Tull, featured as the first track on their 1971 album Aqualung, and written by the bands' frontman Ian Anderson and his then-wife Jennie Franks. The original recording runs for 6 minutes and 32 seconds. It has a famous guitar riff replicated by many other bands at the beginning and later parts .
Aqualung is the eponymous debut album by Aqualung, released on September 30, 2002 on the B-Unique label. It reached #15 in the UK albums chart and went gold in December.
