Serif fonts whose shape comes from Roman style capital letters. The uppercase letters are borrowed from Roman Script. The lowercase letters come from Carolingian miniscule. An alternating stroke weight including the serifs is a typical characteristic.
The ’round’ faces of the Latin alphabet, as opposed to broken letters. The capital letters are based on ancient Roman letter forms, the lower case letters on the Caroline minuscule.
