Definitions for "Annual Fund"
Gifts designated as unrestricted. These gifts provide renewable funds that enable the college to place resources where they are most needed or where opportunities are greatest. Common uses of unrestricted funds include student aid, faculty support, emergency renovations, academic initiatives, research assistance, and the purchase of books, collections, supplies, and equipment.
Tuition, fees, auxiliary service revenue and endowment utilization provide 94 percent of the cost of educating each Blake student. The Annual Fund provides the remaining seven percent (approximately) of the operating budget each year. Without this support, tuition would have to be increased substantially. Parents, grandparents, alumni and friends are asked to contribute to the Annual Fund.
Unrestricted dollars used to pay current expenses and our most pressing needs. A Cornell education would cost much more if not for the gifts to the annual fund.
