Definitions for "Advising"
The process of providing a student with the most complete, current information related to university life. This may include, but is not limited to, information in the areas of academics, resident life, financial planning, career planning, and special events.
The College provides free advising services to all students for help with program planning and course selection.
A service provided by a graduate faculty member to guide students through career issues, academic questions, problems, and/or course work to plan and complete a degree program.
Conveying the terms and conditions of a DC to the beneficiary. The advising bank is the issuing bank's agent and is usually located in the beneficiary's country. (see"Export - DC Advising") The advising bank also takes reasonable care to verify the authenticity of the credit. (ICC UCC 500 Art 7).
Documentary Credits-The act of a bank notifying/conveying the terms and conditions of a documentary credit to the beneficiary. The advising bank is the issuing bank's agent, usually located in the beneficiary's country. Guarantees-A foreign bank requested by the issuing bank (the Guarantor) to forward the latter's orginal Guarantee to the Beneficiary. The advising bank is not a party to the Guarantee therefore it does not incur any liability under the guarantee.
