a computer program produced by Advantage Learning Systems, Inc
(tm) A computerized program published by Renaissance Learning, Inc. designed to test students’ comprehension of the trade books they read. Used by nearly half the school districts in the United States , students select books on their reading level, read independently or with a partner, and take a computerized multiple choice test. Each book is worth a certain number of points based on its length and reading level. Students get a percentage of these points based on how many of the test questions they answer correctly. The program tracks their progress over the course of the school year. The program has been in existence a dozen years, yet because academic journals do not publish research on commercial programs, little has been done to prove or disprove the value or efficacy of this program. http://www.renlearn.com/ar/default.htm
